Calculating water efficiency helps predict water usage according to Part G of The Building Regulations. These calculations are necessary for every new building and some renovation projects. As sustainability becomes a priority, the water efficiency of homes is gaining significance. Additionally, with the population on the rise, it’s crucial to focus on water conservation.
Water efficiency is expressed in litres per person. To comply with Part G, a property must ensure that its water consumption does not exceed 125 litres per person daily. In certain areas, especially in London and the South, local authorities may enforce lower limits.
What impacts the water calculation?
Water calculation results are affected by the flow rates of taps and showers, the volume of bathtubs, the effectiveness of toilet flushes, and the presence of rain harvesting systems or water softeners.
When are water efficiancy calculations required?
Typically, you'll perform water efficiency calculations during the design phase as part of your SAP Calculations. However, your local authority might require these measurements at any stage of your project.
